Once upon a time I had the venerable Nikkor 20mm f/3.5 (manual focus). In a moment of weakness (or insanity) I sold it and put the funds towards **cough** another system. I look back on that lens as a jewell that I shouldn't have hocked. Again I find myself (through my own stupidity) re-buying a focal length that fascinates me.
Although I am drawn to the delights that 135mm gives me I'm also curious as to the possibilities of the wider field of view. If I put a 2:1 crop on a photograph I feel like I'm looking at a movie still. And maybe it's as simple as that. Perhaps there doesn't need to be a long-winded reason for a particular focal length to feel 'right' for the mood and the kind of work it allows me to do.
Although not specifically from the 20mm f/3.5 I'll often set one of my zooms to 20mm.
